Diana J. Gosselin, Barrister & Solicitor

Diana graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990 and Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1994. She has practiced her entire legal career in Edmonton, Alberta, representing clients across the Province.

Diana practices primarily in the area of family law including divorce, parenting time, decision-making responsibility, division of family property, child support, spousal support, separation agreements, and pre-nuptial agreements.

Diana is a zealous advocate for her clients and diligent in the pursuit of justice. Her manner of practice is to promote settlement with the best interests of the children in mind. She is a skilled negotiator with the majority of her family law files resulting in consensual equitable resolutions. Sometimes, litigation is necessary. Diana is a skilled litigator. She has successfully represented many clients in countless interim proceedings and at trial. She has appeared in the Alberta Provincial Court, Court of King’s Bench, and Court of Appeal. Diana’s undergraduate degree in philosophy nurtured her analytical mind. She is detail oriented, thorough and precise. Knowledge of the law, through experience and ongoing legal research, guides her practice. Diana worked with the Legal Education Society of Alberta, Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education, as a Learning Group Facilitator for the Legal Research and Writing, and Written Advice and Advocacy courses. She worked as a Learning Group Evaluator for the Ethics and Professionalism course.

Outside of the office, Diana is a CrossFit enthusiast; she plays billiards; enjoys travel, mostly to tropical destinations; and she is totally a foodie, always looking for new dining experiences.

Emily Van Veghel, Lawyer, Family Law

Born and raised in Ontario, Emily earned her Juris Doctor at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in Thunder Bay. Emily was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2019. Emily began her career in Edmonton and was called to the Bar of Alberta in March of 2020. 

Emily takes a wholistic approach to her legal practice with an understanding that every family matter is as unique and distinctive as the individuals involved. Emily believes her role as your lawyer is to provide you with the understanding and tools you need to make informed decisions about your life when going through a tough legal matter. 

Emily has extensive litigation experience, appearing in all levels of family court multiple times per week. Her practice focuses on multiple family legal issues including divorce, parenting, child and spousal support, family property, restraining and protection orders, separation, cohabitation and/or prenuptial agreements and negotiation.  

Prior to her professional legal career, Emily completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Voice Performance at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. In 2014 Emily was accepted into the competitive opera program COSI: Centre for Opera Studies in Italy where she worked with top opera singers and coaches from all over the world. Emily also worked ten seasons with Ontario Provincial Parks where she was trained to trap and relocate black bears. 

When not working, Emily enjoys getting outside and enjoying the local nature and hiking trails. On the weekends you can find her exploring Edmonton’s many festivals, farmer’s markets, and seasonal events.
